Wednesdays at the historic Congdon Mansion known as Glensheen have become a day to learn all about the history of the Zenith City–Duluth Minnesota. The author Tony Dierckins publishes the Zenith City Press and offers a series of talks on Wednesdays in February 2018 at the Glensheen Mansion on the shore of Lake Superior.
On February 7th, 2018 the conversation will center around Duluth’s historic theaters which showcase local and national talent. This is timely as the famous NorShor Theatre reopens on February 1st, 2018.
On February 14, 2018 the talk centers around the love of brewing beer in the Northland. Both Duluth and Superior have had a “love affair” with beer and began brewing in 1859. Enjoy this presentation about the history of the breweries in and around the area.
On February 21, 2018 you can hear about the history of the fortune that enabled the beautiful Glensheen mansion to be built. Learn about how J.P. Morgan, Andrew Carnegie, John D. Rockefeller, Henry Oliver and Chester Congdon made history together!
The talk on February 28, 2018 centers around the history of Duluth and the story of how the beginning and end of the industries created the great divide between East and West Duluth Minnesota. This is one that this Innkeeper won’t miss!
