Description:
For 5 days in March 2015, Charlottesville welcomes authors, readers, poets, cooks, travelers and dreamers to explore the world of literature. There are discussions and talks about fiction, non-fiction, adventure, travel, food, biographies and many more – too numerous to mention here. You get to hear what the authors thought while they were writing their novel or short story. You can participant in writing workshops or learn how to publish your own work.
The Festival kicks off on Wednesday March 18, 2015 with the Leadership Breakfast featuring Beth Macy. Her recent work includes Factory Man: How One Furniture Maker Battled Offshoring, Stayed Local – and Helped Save an American Town.
The events continue through the week with discussions on Alzheimers, Vietnam, gender and Civil rights, sports, Francis Scott Key and Cadwallader Colden, natural health remedies, Southern travel, and the Nixon tapes – all presented by the authors themselves. Only a handful of events require tickets, 95% are open to the public.
The Festival is held throughout the city with the main events happening at the Omni Hotel and the Paramount Theater.
