Description:
Get ready for fresh produce and plants. The 2014 season at Tanana Valley’s Farmer’s Market begins May 10th. It is the oldest established farmers market in Alaska and it is the only one located within its own permanent building.
The Farmer’s Market here in Fairbanks has become a staple on the list of things to do here in the summer. Even if you are not going to collect some of the wonderful produce, you get the opportunity to taste international cuisine, buy Alaska made gifts, or sample real homemade delights. Vendors include pottery, woodwork, jewelry, and art, in addition to “Alaskan grown” food items, such as birch syrup, jellies and jams. You will also find friends among the tents, as well as baked goods, flowers, and even clothing.
Beginning July 16th, running through September 10th, on Wednesdays, (excluding the week of the fair) local chefs will demonstrate ways to prepare fresh Alaska-Grown produce at the Market. The Chef events will be held from 11am-2pm at the Fairbanks First Booth.
The market is open Wednesdays, 11-4; Saturdays, 9-4; and Sundays, 11-4, through September 21st. See you at the Market!
