Description:
Almost every county has it’s Art Festival, well attended by local folk who want to find that perfect piece for their yard or wall and this part of Niagara County has the Lewiston Art Festival. The artists are not just local however, they come from all over the United States as well as span many age groups. Center Street from 4th Street to 8th Street will be closed to vehicular traffic so that the 175 artists can display their works. You will find everything from photos, and collages to fine art, jewelry, pottery, fiber, glass, wood mixed media and interspersed with these will be musical artists, some with CD’s available for purchase.
College Alley spotlights artwork from high school and college students; mixed media, jewelry, pottery, and wall art of many styles are available for purchasing.
The Chalk Walk is a contest between several high schools in the region. The high school teams are given a theme from which they create a chalk mural on the ground that the visitors to the festival are encouraged to vote on for the People’s Choice Award. There is also a first and second place award given. Judging takes place around 4pm on Saturday.
For those who want to test their own artistic talent there is the Modern ArtZone where, at no cost to you, the artist, art can be created from discarded and recycled objects. Modern Recycling will have their robot built from recycled components there to visit with, along with items to be sorted through and made into art.
No festival is complete without food and there will be plenty of fair food to choose from, some of those deserts are an art form themselves!
