The Holmes County Rails-to Trails Benefit Auction, a yearly event, takes place every June.   This year’s auction is Saturday June 14th from 7 am-1 pm.  The Holmes County Rails-to Trails is the only trail in the country that allows  Amish buggies.  No motorized vehicles are allowed on the trail.  All proceeds from the Benefit Auction go toward maintenance and further development of the Rail-Trail.  Currently 15 miles of the trail is open for the enjoyment of tourists, local citizens including the large Amish community.  An additional 14 miles of trail is planned for the Holmes County portion.  Upon completion, the trail will stretch through Holmes and Knox County for a total of 50 miles.  Traveling on the trail exposes one to the solitude and beauty of Ohio’s heartland.  Amish buggies, horseback riders, bikers and hikers are allowed and encouraged.

The Benefit Auction kicks off at 7:30 am with a fitness walk, and for those already fit, the 5K run starts at 7:45 am. Registration for both events is at 7 am.  After you have worked up an appetite, join the crowd for breakfast, at reasonable prices.  Stay for the entire event, lunch will be offered later in the day.

The auction features handmade furniture, quilts, swing set, riding mowers, chicken coop, Amish buggy and numerous other items.  A silent auction is also included along with a raffle for a pony!  Amish baked goods are on sale.  The highlight of the auction, a new log cabin, will be auctioned off!  An auction brochure with details is on the web-site.
