Description:
Trombonist Glen David Andrews’ dynamite Monday night show at d.b.a. lounge on Frenchmen Street inspires music lovers of all shapes and sizes to join Glen’s party with hand clapping, hankie waving, and call and response — usually by the second number! Don’t be surprised if Glen starts off his show roaming out in the audience, singing at the top of his large lungs. With his big booming voice and presence, his virtuoso trombone playing, and his very talented band funkin’ it up, no stage seems able to contain Glen David Andrews!
Glen comes from a multi-talented, multi-generational New Orleans royal music family and took up the trombone at age 12—that might be why he’s called the Prince of Treme. Glen also has princely charisma so prepare to be impressed by this rousingly regal performance.
Glen’s repertoire is a unique blend of soul, funk, gospel, rock and revival. Traditional New Orleans music like “Iko Iko” mix it up with bluesy originals like “Surrender” and “NY to NOLA.” Glen and his band just finished touring nationally promoting his 2014 CD titled ‘Redemption’ (Louisiana Red Hot Records). ‘Redemption’ — a 10-song collection featuring Ivan Neville, Anders Osborne and other blues greats — is a critical triumph and was voted the top Louisiana album of 2014 (Offbeat Magazine).
As a well-known New Orleans club that features live music every night, and offers two full bars and plenty of beer on tap, the d.b.a venue is a perfect place to catch the Glen David Andrews show. Mondays at 10 p.m.
From the Author: Glen was my neighbor for a few years, I can tell you that he is an amazing musician that leaves nothing on the stage. He is true New Orleans!
