Extravaganza Weekend in Adamstown, PA (aka: Antique Capital USA) is an event to behold.  Adamstown already has an incredible concentration of Antique shops and malls lining the “strip” along 272.  But for Extravaganza Weekend, it’s just “more-so”!!!  There are more vendors than usual, shops are open for longer hours, and there are more deals to be had.  Extravaganza happens three times a year, the last weekend of the month in April, June and September.

Many serious collectors will book their trips to the area 6 months to a year out, to make sure they’re able to get room at their favorite local bed and breakfast, hotel or motel… because the area will definitely book up!  Some shops that are usually only open on Sundays will stay open for the 4 days of Extravaganza… and there’s typically so much great stuff to see that you need all those days to fit it all in.  With that in mind, the shops add extra hours too, opening extra-early in the morning in many cases (like “when-it’s-still-dark” kind of early!).

No matter what you collect or are shopping for, it’s likely to be at one of the shops, malls or stands during Extravaganza.  Everything from mid-century modern to early colonial, dolls and toys to pottery and artistic glass, one dollar bobbles to ten thousand dollar clocks… the treasures are out there, you just need (get!) to hunt them down…which is half the fun, right?!
