Description:
The recently renovated, newly reopened Wayne Theatre is a hub of activity in the downtown Waynesboro, Virginia area. With a weekly line-up that includes both regular favorites and brand new acts, this theatre is a must-visit for anyone who enjoys the performing arts.
Here is a tiny sample of the sort of acts you can experience in the upcoming months:
Live from Nashville: This country cast plans to liven up the Wayne Theatre with the songs and dance of the south! This energetic show features cast members who have sung on ABC, Disney, the Ring of Fire National Tour, Dollywood, and more. The show will be made complete with live musicians who will take the lead on guitar, drums, bass, keys, and fiddle.
Johnny Peers and the Muttville Comix: Have you ever watched a live performance featuring shelter dogs? With a love for both rescued pets and circus acts, Johnny Peers combines the two in what has come to be called the “Muttville Comix.” Johnny and his canine companions have performed on shows like David Letterman, Live with Regis and Kathy Lee, and Seinfeld, as well as taken their act to Disneyland, Busch Gardens, and The Big Apple Circus.
Monday Night Movies: Every Monday night, the Wayne Theatre will bring historic cinema to life on the big screen with a showing of classic films. Sponsored by Waynesboro’s Classic Cinema Club, you can enjoy films like “Forbidden Planet,” “The African Queen,” “Yankee Doodle Dandy,” and “She Wore a Yellow Ribbon.”
There are many more experiences to be had at the Wayne Theatre, so check out their website and their calendar events, and start planning for a fun and memorable time!
From the Author: As a fan of classic movies, one of my favorite things about the Wayne Theatre is their Monday Night Movies. (They also do some fantastic Monday Matinee Movies if you’re looking for something to do around 2:00 in the afternoon.) As part of Monday Night Movies, the Classic Cinema Club hosts an introduction and post-viewing film discussion for those who are interested. It’s a lot of fun and is a chance to learn some behind-the-scenes trivia about these classic movies.
