Root’s Country Market and Auction is Open TUESDAYS only.  April – October they’re open from 9:00 am – 9:00 pm.  November – March from 9:00 am – 8:00 pm.

Roots has been a mainstay of the Lancaster Community for 85 years now!  They have over 200 indoor and outdoor stands that sell everything under the sun!  There are the typical farmers market stands with fruits, vegetables, plants, flowers and hand-crafted goods.  There are also candle makers, soap makers, bakeries, butcher shops, toy stores, gadget stores, ladies who sell candles, guys who sell cell phone accessories.  If you need it, you can probably find it at Roots, and for a VERY good price!

There’s a stand that sells American Girl Doll clothes, handmade by a local woman.  There are all kinds of places to buy local jams, spice mixes, dressings and sauces.  If you’re into organic foods you’ll have a number of options including vendors who sell free range organic eggs, organic cheese, and organically raised veggies.

In addition to bringing your wallet, you should also bring your appetite because there are some great food stands where you can buy lunch or dinner to either eat while you shop, or to bring home with you.  There are even a number of picnic tables outside if the weather is cooperating.

In addition to the Market and Auction, there are also a whole collection of Antique / Flea-Market style shops across the street from Root’s in what they call “Root’s Old Mill Flea Market”.
