The Fishmonger Restaurant was born in the 1970’s and retains it’s counter-culture vibe with great local food, good coffee served in old fashioned diner mugs, craft beer on tap and a full bar.  Local, summer people, scientists, vegans, tourists and more crowd into this small place to watch the drawbridge go up and down and enjoy the water views over Woods Hole.

With a broad and eclectic menu, there is something for everyone at the Fishmonger — from Mediterranean fare, to excellent vegetarian options and a great selection of clams, steamed mussels and fried, baked and grilled fish.  Breakfast is served here too, but come early on summer weekends as the combination of mouth-watering waffles, egg dishes and spicy Bloody Mary’s draws a real crowd.

Winter nights, locals crowd the bar for live music with several series drawing acts from Boston and beyond.  Covers range from free (Monday night with the Joe Sutton band) to $25ish and tickets can be purchased in advance at several local shops.  On your next visit to Woods Hole, don’t miss a trip to what locals call, “the Monger.”
