The Black Horse Restaurant is one of our favorite places to eat in the area, and that’s saying something because there are a LOT of fantastic restaurants and chefs in Lancaster County!  What makes this restaurant a regular go-to place for us is their balance between “comfy-cozy” atmosphere, top-notch service and a phenomenal 5-star chef!!  Ben is a Culinary Institute trained chef, an education he’s leveraged to combine an understanding/appreciation of local ingredients and a keen sense of what guests LIKE.. to create a terrific menu filled with fresh, local, and delicious options that are cooked to perfection.

Combine that with a staff that’s more like family than employees and you’ve got a true recipe for success.  There are waitresses that have worked here for over four years.  There’s even one family of wait staff where three generations are represented!  The staff cares about taking care of their guests, and take pride in delivering an wonderful experience!

During the good-weather months there’s a terrific patio outside.  The “Tavern” inside is small, but feels like a local pub with a very friendly atmosphere.

Worth knowing is that Ben manages to get the BEST ingredients.  If there’s Tuna on the menu (or any other seafood), it’s fantastic quality.  The Black Horse is close enough to Maryland that the Crab Cakes are amazing, with no filler.  Other favorites on the menu are the Roast Pork Tenderloin, the Flank Steak with French Fries, and the Filet Mignon.  Our son is a HUGE fan of the burgers & fries.  If you like mushroom soup, definitely try the Mushroom Bisque.  Heck… everything’s great… ENJOY!
