Description:
Each year the J.E. Reeves Victorian home decorates this beautiful seventeen room mansion with a different theme for the Christmas holidays. The theme for 2013 is “Trains and Trees”. Every room is decorated for the holidays with the theme in mind. The Reeves Mansion was once the home of Jane and Jeremiah Reeves, the founder of Reeves Steel in Dover, Ohio.
In its hey-day the Reeves family employed 850 workers and was the largest industrial employer in the area. Of the seventeen rooms in the mansion a ballroom occupies the entire third floor. The Reeves home is on the National Register of Historic Places. Along with the mansion there is a carriage house on the property. The carriage house also open to the public displays the Reeves family horse drawn sled, a 1892 hansom buggy, a doctor’s buggy and a Orchestral Regina Music Box. The second floor of the carriage house is a museum featuring Life in 19th Century Tuscarawas County.
Christmas tours of the Reeves Mansion begin on November 11th with walk-through tours. Volunteers will walk you through the home to view the Christmas decorations. The walk-through tours are discounted at $7.00/adult.
