Bunn’s Barbecue in Windsor, NC, looks like an old service station – because it is. The Texaco pump is still outside and inside the Texaco signs are hanging everywhere. But there is not doubt this is a barbecue restaurant-the pungent smell of vinegar greets you at the door. This is pork barbecue made with vinegar and red pepper, that’s it.

Locals like their barbecue served with slaw and some type of potato, either french fries or stewed potatoes with lots of onions. And always barbecue is served with corn bread and sweet tea. You can get this pork barbecue either chopped or pulled. And in eastern North Carolina it is always pork, never with a runny red sauce like you find in the Piedmont.

This is great Road Food served up Mom and Pop style and you won’t break the bank paying for it. It is located right downtown in the tiny town of Windsor. Just ask any local.
