Hip, cool, fun and funky are all words that are conjured up when you think of Hill Top Cafe. Located a quick 10 minutes outside of Fredericksburg in an old gas station, you would never expect what awaits you inside or think that you might need a reservation (don’t show up without one on the weekends!). The decor is over the top fun and eclectic.
The food is a mix of Cajun and Greek just like the owner Johnny Nicholas and his wife Brenda. Johnny takes care of entertaining the guests out front (he is a Grammy award winning musician and plays most weekend nights) while Brenda keeps the kitchen humming and turning out some of the best food you have ever had! Their son Willie keeps the front of the house running smooth, making sure your never wanting for anything.
The blackboard is filled with specials daily, and honestly I haven’t ever had anything that wasn’t just delicious. They are open for lunch and dinner and each has a distinct vibe. Dinner on the weekends is a party, while lunch is a quiet laid back affair. When you hit Fredericksburg, don’t miss out on this place, you won’t ever see another one like it!
From the Author: Hill Top is on my short list of favorite places. I have lunch or dinner there at least a couple of times a month and I never leave disappointed. It's fantastic for a couple or a group of friends. Just make sure you call ahead and make reservation. While both lunch and dinner are fantastic, I have to go at least once a month and get a shrimp PoBoy fix at lunch. I would put their PoBoy up against any that you will find in Louisiana, it's just that good.
