Why did you choose the city / state you now live in? Purchased Foxfield Inn
What do you love most about where you live? There are so many reasons that I love this area: primarily the people, the wineries (best wine around – winning awards around the world), the music, the restaurants, the historic sites (Monticello & Montpelier to name only two of the many), the outdoor activities, hiking the Blue Ridge Mountains, the artisan network (great local artists), the local farmers (including our neighbors), the farm markets, the University of Virginia (and the football games – go Wahoo’s!). There is just so much to love about this area, so much to experience, to learn and so much to do! Plus the weather is pretty great as well.
What is your favorite restaurant in your town? It depends. For special occasions I love The Ivy Inn – it has a very creative chef who uses a lot of locally sourced ingredients. For burgers it has to be The Citizens Burger Bar – they use the best grass fed beef from the farm across the street from us. For good local casual dining – it’s Duners, anyone who has ever eaten there knows that I do not need to say anything but their name.
What is your Age Group: 45-59
What is your favorite All Time Movie? I don’t actually have a favorite movie but if I absolutely had to pick one it would be The Wizard of Oz. It had a tremendous impact on me when I was young. The flying monkeys and the “I’m melting” always gives me goose bumps.
Do you have any Pets? No pets right now but we have always had dogs and cats from the animal shelter or rescue societies.
What is your favorite thing to do in your free time? What free time?
What is your favorite season and why? Fall – the beautiful colors of nature and the cool crisp air specially in the morning.
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do? Faint
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? Paint with a passion that when I step back from the easel I would be filled with a sense of wonder.
If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be? The signing of the Declaration of Independence – maybe the discussions leading up to the signing might be better. To experience the energy that they put into getting it right.
Which celebrity do you get mistaken for? None
Where do you work? At the most wonderful B&B in Charlottesville – Foxfield Inn – where people come tired & worn out and leave wit smiles on their faces.
What is your title? Innkeeper, laundress, housekeeper, accountant, cook, bottle washer, gardener, shopper, concierge – plus many more.
How long have you worked there? 4.5 years
What do you love most about your Job? The smiles on guests faces.
What is your Experience and Background in the Travel Industry? I was the traveler for many years – over 80% of my time spent traveling around the world, staying in all sorts of places and experiencing many different types of hospitality (and some not-so-hospitality).
