Feel like having a beer? You’re in luck, because the Tap Room at Abita Brewing Company, New Orleans’ longtime craft beer, is open every day at their main location in Covington. You can stop by for a pint or, Wednesdays through Sundays, take a tour (see the times listed below).

Started in 1986, Abita takes its name from neighboring Abita Springs, the source of the water used for its beer. British and North American malted barley, German and American yeast strains, and Pacific Northwest hops are also incorporated into their beers, which are cold-filtered without preservatives, additives, or stabilizers. Despite its growth and popularity, the company still makes their ales and lagers in small batches under the watchful eye of their skilled team.

What kinds of beer does Abita brew? Top flagship varieties include Jacamo® IPA and Restoration Pale Ale, but you’ll also find eight kinds of what they call big beers, a Bourbon Street Series including four brews, and seasonal beers. Abita makes a hard root beer and a root beer soda as well.
