Description:
The historic Queen Anne Victorian mansion, built in 1891 for Martin Pattison and his family, is available for touring on three Twinkling Tuesdays in December 2016. The massive home boasts a four-story turret complete with a widow’s watch overlooking the bay of Lake Superior. The mansion will be in full holiday décor for these special Tuesday events. There are three floors for you to explore including gilded mural ceilings on the first floor, access to the Pattison’s second floor bedroom with many of the original furnishings and the third floor which is dedicated to the era when the home served the less fortunate children of the area from 1920 to 1962.
The doors at Fairlawn Mansion open at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13th, December 20th and December 27, 2016 for Twinkling Tuesdays. There will be hot apple cider and Christmas treats for you to enjoy. Hosts will be scattered throughout the mansion to share stories, Victorian customs and answer your questions about the historic home. The tour is self-guided so you can take your time to take in all the décor and history.
The cost for Twinkling Tuesdays is $5 for adults and children under 12 are free. The tour begins in the gift shop on the property and there is ample parking on the premises. Mark your calendar this year to enjoy Twinkling Tuesdays at Fairlawn Mansion.
From the Author: The Fairlawn Mansion in Superior Wisconsin is only a short drive over the high bridge from Duluth Minnesota. I highly recommend this holiday tour for all those who appreciate historic mansions and beautiful holiday décor.
