For eight days you can experience local musicians, artists and performers presenting their talents in a variety of genres of music in Duluth Minnesota. 2015 marks the 17th year of the Duluth Homegrown Music Festival which began as a 30th birthday celebration and has grown to be an event featuring 200 musical acts along with some poetry, video, art presentation, filmmakers and other artists.
The shows take place in and around Duluth Minnesota and Superior Wisconsin in a variety of venues. On the weekend most of the music is presented in downtown Duluth and a homegrown trolley will take you from place to place for free! It is easy to walk between many of the downtown venues.
You can purchase a wristband for all eight days for $25 or purchase single day weekend or weekday passes for $5 and $15.
The event opens on Sunday, April 26th 2015 at Teatro Zuccone, Tycoons Alehouse and Eatery, Carmody Irish Pub and Pizza Luce. Monday, April 27th there are shows at the Red Herring Lounge, Zinema 2, The Underground, Sir Benedict’s Tavern on the Lake, Fitger’s Brewhouse, the Rex Bar, Red Star Lounge, Bent Paddle Brewing Company, Amazing Grace CafĂ©, Prove Gallery, Grandma’s Sports Garden, Dubh Linn Irish Pub and Lake Avenue Restaurant and Bar.
Wednesday, April 29th the Homegrown Music Festival takes to Clyde Iron Works and features the Duluth band Trampled by Turtles at 9:30 p.m. Other venues that evening include Beaner’s Central, Players Sports Bar, Kom-on-Inn, Mr. D’s Bar & Grill and Gopher Restaurant and Lounge.
