Description:
In Ohio, a state with rich agricultural roots, most counties have a county fair. Always the third week in September, the fair is a popular destination for residents of Tuscarawas and surrounding counties. There are rides, fair food, animals, entertainment, agricultural exhibits, tractor pulls, and entries from honey, to baked goods, produce, quilts and more. One can easily spend the entire day at the fair taking in all there is to see and do.
Entertainment, horse and buggy races, and tractor pulls are held at the grandstand. Local musicians perform along with at least one headliner. Kix Brooks performs on Friday the 17th. If you need a break from walking around, get a cold drink and mosey over to the grandstand to observe the horse judging and and other exciting activities. Do not leave the fair before checking out the animal barns and judging area. Children from all over the county spend months raising and grooming their animals for show and auction. One will see cows, steers, pigs, horses, goats, sheep, rabbits, chickens and lamas. The quilt barn and agriculture exhibits are also popular.
On the midway are the rides and food. Kiddie rides, Ferris wheel, swings, bumber cars, tilt-a-whirl and the fun house are just a few for your enjoyment. Fair food is the best – one can feast on ribs, corn dogs, pizza, ice cream at the dairy barn, cotton candy, apple dumplings, elephant ears and candy apples. There is something for everyone at the fair, so stop in for the day!
