Description:
A couple years ago a traveling organization called Out Standing in the Field did two dinners at Blooming Hill Farm’s property in Chester, NY. Ever since then they have always had it in the back of their minds to emulate those events. The soil at this property is a large, flat, nutrient-rich layer of topsoil said to have been created from ancient glacial till. Though it isn’t any good for building, due to soil instability, it’s some of the best farmland in New York State and a picturesque setting for any dining experience.
Chef Darren took inspiration for the menu this time around from the lively summer tradition of a crab boil. The menu will be served out on the blackdirt in a rustic family style fashion, accompanied by beers on tap from Rushing Duck Brewery- literally just a few steps down the road from the Farm’s Chester property. The price for this event is 75$ per person.
The menu will include:
In the pot, spiced in the tradition of Old Bay
Blue Claw Crabs & Little Neck Clams with
Sweet Corn
String Beans
Summer Squash
New Potatoes
Accompanied by
Farm Mesclun Greens from the field
And to finish
Fruit Crumble
with homemade ice cream
Dinner is served at 6pm. Call for your reservations and to get directions to this unique event.
