When you approach the big green gate, if it’s open, please enter slowly and you’ll be amazed at the floral bouquet nature gives Fair Play each spring.
Mary and John Hess have nurtured their garden into a masterpiece. The garden is set on a small knoll with a Victorian gazebo surrounded by picnic tables and walking paths. Enjoy a peaceful leisurely lunch or just sit and take in the wonder of all the beauty of the blooms. The full rainbow spectrum of colors abounds in all directions when you take a stroll through the garden or the acres of rows of iris.

From the Author: When we were searching for land to buy to build Lucinda's Country Inn we stumbled across this little oasis in the heart of Fair Play. Every spring since we find her; our trip to visit a winery or friends is past this wonderland of iris. Fortunately for Lucinda & I we have gotten to know John & Mary over the years. Wonderful people normally do wonderful things. The Hess' have proven that true. It's amazing to see Mary, her mother and John working year round, year after year, so the world and our small community can marvel at such a short lived annual display of magnificent beauty.
