Description:

Each Saturday morning from 8AM to noon, the Merchant Square area of Williamsburg’s downtown, transforms into a locals’ pantry paradise. Growers, producers and artisans of Virginia join up to offer visitors and residents locally grown or produced: foods, soaps, flowers and herbs. Each week they sell seasonal, direct farm to table foods and products using Virginia grown and produced materials.

While the season starts in early March and extends to “Holiday Markets” through February, you can bet you will find something each month worth showing up for.

Some of my favorites there are the goat cheese artisans who have a fabulous lavender goat cheese and those wonderful ladies who make the homemade berry pies! The best part is that they make small pies as well, about 6 inches in diameter, for those of us watching our figure. Try their triple berry pie you will not be sorry.

Very often they have a sponsored local chef doing a delicious, live exhibition on how to make something very tasty. Last year I remember Executive Chef, Travis Brust from the Williamsburg Inn, did a live demo on watermelon – -Yummy!

Oh and I must not forget to mention that this weekly event is not just for people, no…as a matter of fact this event has all but gone to the dogs! Well not really but we do like to call it a “doggie meet and greet” Everyone who has a dog will be there and the dogs love it as they meet and greet other K9 buddies.

From the Author: Of course it is free to walk around and enjoy but bring plenty of money for all the treats you are going to want to purchase.
