Description:
This summer, at the The National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden, will be a great chance to melt off those winter DC blues and relax with some Jazz music. Each Friday, 5-8:30 pm starting May 23, the sculpture garden will feature new artists against the sunset. Take a load off and soak in the amazing collection of large-scale sculptures. The best part with these Fridays is that it gives both locals and tourist a chance to come together, in the cut-with-a-knife-thick humidity, and share some great music and refreshments.
The chill ambiance attracts groups of all ages. So you will get a real taste of DC social life as well as modern and contemporary artists. And of course the experience wouldn’t be complete without great food, too! What makes this a truly fantastic occasion is that you can bring your own food in–and share it with your neighbors if you like. Adult beverages and food can be purchased at the Sculpture Garden Pavilion Cafe.
Throughout this festival, you can get excited for genres such as: Jazz Trio, Roots Afropop, Brazilian Jazz, Big-Band Swing, and, of course, Blues! Featured artist include: Bruce Ewan, Tom Williams, Seth Kibel, Miles Stiebel, etc. What a fantastic opportunity this will be to dance and let go of the work-week stress we all carry around. And really who can refuse music, friends, family, food, and summer memories.
From the Author: The Sculpture Garden is my favorite park in DC. It is serene and beautiful. I love to sit by the water, on the grassy area or at the cafe and just enjoy the people, the unique sculptures and the Jazz in the summer and ice skating in the winter.
