Description:
If you are a fan of summertime concerts held outdoors in beautiful grassy parks along a river, then the Michigan Elvis Fest is for you. This all volunteer run homage to the King of Rock and Roll began in 2000 on a small scale in Frog Island Park in Ypsilanti, Michigan. It was so well received that the next year it moved to Riverside Park, which is much larger and is able to handle the 10,000 fans who attend.
This is a fun event for fans as well as family and friends, where children are encouraged to dress up like Elvis just like the Tribute Artists do who are on stage. Memphis barbecue is served up along with other treats. These Tribute Artists have won contests all over the country and give truly remarkable performances.
This is not a contest, but a true concert with spectacular performances by the best professional Elvis Tribute Artists in North America and other Legend Tribute Artists. This year’s line-up includes, Ronny Craig as Master of Ceremonies, Leo Day, Matt King (a co-founder), David Lee, Chris Ayotte, Matt Cage, Quentin Flagg and 15 year old Colin Dexter. The Change of Habit Tribute Band provides the music live while the Tribute Artists sing and transform themselves into the King of Rock and Roll. The magic begins Friday evening and starts about noon on Saturday and ending around midnight.
From the Author: I have been going to the Michigan Elvis fest since it began and have never been disappointed. People bring chairs, baskets of food and spend the day. No bottles or cans are allowed and everyone gets a wrist band so they can leave the area and return. Everyone always has a lot of fun and certainly enjoys the music. The Parish House Inn is just a short walk away from all the fun.
