Sight and Sound Theater is know for bringing biblical stories to life, and with their latest production, Moses, they’ve “hit it out of the park”!!

Performances are held Tuesday – Saturday.  Mid-Week shows are at either 11:00 am and 2:45 pm.  Friday showings are at 2:45 pm and 6:30 pm.  On Saturday you’ve got three options:  11:00 am, 2:45 pm and 6:30 pm.

For anyone who’s never seen a show at Sight and Sound, be prepared to be WOW’d.  The stage wraps around the theater, giving you a 180 degree view that literally immerses the audience in the story.  Actors and live animals (yep, that’s right, LIVE animals!!) move up and down the aisles, the sound system is amazing, and the sets are spectacular.  This is what it takes to put on a show like Moses, set in Egypt with burning bushes, plagues, the parting of the Red Sea and God delivering the 10 Commandments… and have it all FEEL like it’s happening.  It’s been a day since I saw the premier, and I’m still amazed at how they turned Moses’ shepherd’s staff into a snake, had it slither down a set of stairs where his brother, Aaron, picks it up, and then it transforms into a staff again!!  And as you would expect, the high-point of the show is when the Red Sea parts.  In addition to the amazing visuals, you will literally feel the sensation of the sea parting.

Even though the story of Moses is very “event driven”, they’ve produced a “character-driven” tale that introduces the audience to Moses “the person”.  He’s presented as someone in search of himself.  He’s flawed and insecure, feeling unworthy of God’s love.  This is a journey through time, where Moses faces universal challenges and rises up to ultimately overcome them, to achieve his destiny.  It’s a story that all of us can relate to in one way or another, making this ancient tale relevant and impactful even today.

And finally, even the best story and staging in the world wouldn’t be much without a great sound track.  The composers who wrote the score and lyrics for Moses did a great job, there’s more than one song that will have you tapping your foot!

In short, Sight and Sound has once again tackled an epic tale, and presents it brilliantly.  I predict that audiences will be pleased.
