Description:
Bockfest in Duluth Minnesota is a German celebration of Spring. Although the grass may not be green and the snow will probably not even be melted, the celebration at Fitger’s Courtyard will be March 13-15, 2014. Beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13th, the Food and Beer Tent will open with a blessing of the Lake Superior Split Rock Bock Beer. As the weather may still be cold, there will be a campfire to keep warm and lots of fun and festivities. The tent will be open again on Friday night, March 14, 2014 with lots of German food and great beer.
On Saturday, March 15, 2014 the festivities include the tent opening at noon followed by a German Volksmarch on the Lakewalk along Lake Superior at 2 p.m. Then for a little dip in the big lake at 3 p.m. followed by a stein race and a Black Forest Torte eating contest that sounds delicious!
The Masskrug-Stemmen competition at 5 p.m. shows off skills in holding and maneuvering your beer stein which should be very informational for all those wanting to drink beer correctly! Bring your friends and family for a team beer drinking contest on Saturday night beginning at 8 p.m. to finish the celebration of Bockfest for 2014. Bring on Spring in Duluth!
From the Author: There's plenty of parking in the ramp adjacent to Fitger's Brewery Complex and this event is enjoyed by those of German heritage and everyone else that attends!
