The fun and excitement of live thoroughbred racing is found at the historic Oaklawn Park from January through mid-April every year. Oaklawn is one of the most actively attended racing venues in the country! The paddock (where the race horses are saddled and the jockey’s climb aboard) is indoors, making for a great spot to see the horses up close.
The racing season concludes with the Racing Festival of the South, April 9-12, 2014 when many of the top thoroughbreds and jockeys will compete on the dirt track. The Arkansas Derby, on April 12, boasts a $1 million purse. The excitement is palpable, and the people watching spectacular.
In addition to the season’s live racing, simulcast races and gaming are open every day.
