Tammy Doriot
Location: Jefferson, TX
Since: 2011 — I moved to Jefferson because my husband and I wanted to be back in a small town that had nice people and enough things to do to keep us busy year round and NO SNOW! I love that on any given day you can walk all around town and people wave and stop just to say “Hi”. Everyone here has been open and welcoming to new residents. I especially love that our town is historic and wants to keep it vibrant and active while still holding to it’s historic roots. The town sits between two lakes for boating and fishing and picnicking. There are horse drawn carriage rides, fantastic live theater, antique shops and some old fashioned soda fountains with beloved candies we remember from childhood.
Age Group: 46-59

If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do? Well, after picking myself up off the floor, I’d like to believe I’d give some money to charities I hold dear. Then I would go on a European vacation.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? Write code.
If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be? This question is so hard because there are many things in our past I’d love to have seen but I think the one that really intrigues me the most would be the finding of the Dead Sea Scrolls.
Which celebrity do you get mistaken for? In high school I was called Tammy Wynette quite often, not because of the looks but because my maiden name was so similar. I guess the blonde hair played a small roll in that too.

What is your title? I am an Innkeeper
How long have you worked there? 2 Years
What do you love most about your Job? The part of my job I really love the most is meeting so many interesting people who stay with us. But my all time favorite part of my job is taking pictures of guests while they are here. These pictures become life-long memories for them and remind them of a moment in time they will cherish forever.
What is your Experience and Background in the Travel Industry? My grandparents have owned a small motel and cafe on the California coast since I was a kid, there I learned the ins and outs of Innkeeping and restaurant work on my summer vacations. When we had the opportunity to become full time Innkeepers we could not pass it up. We ran their place for a few years then moved to a large bed and breakfast where we not only had guests but a dinner house on the weekends. When the economy went down there, we moved to North Carolina to run a bed and breakfast for a few years. Then we had an opportunity to buy our own B&B so we searched until we found an ideal town for us and our business, moved to Jefferson and have not looked back since. All together we have been Innkeeping for 10 years and still loving every single minute of it.
