It’s that time again to pay homage to the foodies delight that is the Maine State treat, the Whoopie Pie!!

Join mascot “Sweetie Pie” and the 5000 plus visitors that come to do just that in Dover Foxcroft, Maine on Saturday June 28, 2014. As well as many vendors baking, competing against each other, tasting and selling a multitude of differing flavors of whoopie pie, there will be music by the Whoopie Kat band playing throughout the festival. There will also be rides, attractions and games for the children such as a climbing wall, pony rides, face painting, bounce house and other vendors selling crafts, candles, dresses, fudge with other sweet treats. There are also more exciting activities still to be announced. The Maine Whoopie Pie Festival has also been named the winner of About.com’s New England Travel Readers Choice Award for the best New England event or festival and 2014 will be bigger and better than ever.

Whoopie Pie flavors such as orange cream slice, lemon blueberry, vanilla cream and chocolate will all be there as well as many others for you to experience. Which will be your favorite come the end of the party?

Make a weekend of it and head to Moosehead Lake or one of the 2 State Parks that are both less than an hour away (Peaks Kenny on Sebec Lake and Lily Bay right on Moosehead Lake itself). Take a hike or a scenic drive in the Maine Highlands or check out Maine’s largest mountain, Mt Katahdin. Most of all have fun and enjoy your time here.

The Maine Whoopie Pie Festival and Dover Foxcroft is easy to get to, being just 30 minutes from Maine’s 2nd biggest city, Bangor and only 35 minutes off I95 at exit 157.
