Description:
The Visitors Center is closed Mondays during the “season” and from Thanksgiving through January 31. Their hours of operation during the “open months” are Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. The visitor area has exhibits on the region’s plant and animal life. They also have trail maps and present educational lectures.
The park itself is open to the public for walking and driving. Trails are open for hiking from dawn to dusk.
There are around 20 miles of developed walking trails throughout the wildlife preserve, a self-guided driving route through the preserve showcases the 400 acre man-made lake is built specifically to attract waterfowl (which it DEFINITELY does!). The terrain includes a combination of open fields with wildflowers, dense wooded tracks and wetlands. There are a number of observation areas where you can watch and photograph the plants and wildlife that surrounds you.
Middle Creek is a favorite spot for photographers, hikers and nature lovers (especially bird watchers). There are three picnic areas with bathrooms in case you need a break during your nature excursion.
